Who we are
Cairn Oil & Gas is the biggest private-sector producer of crude oil in India that currently produces from assets in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat. The Mangala field in Rajasthan, which was discovered in January 2004, was the largest onshore oil discovery in India in the last twenty years. Mangala, Bhagyam, and Aishwariya fields are the three significant discoveries in the Rajasthan block that cumulatively have hydrocarbons reserves of around 2.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Cairn is an exploration and production leader having an exploration strategy based on a portfolio of high reward prospects across the risk spectrum.
What we do
Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Limited, is one of the largest oil and gas exploration and production companies in India. Cairn contributed to 24% of India's domestic crude oil production in the financial year 2019-20 and has the vision to produce 50% of India’s oil and gas. Cairn has built the world's longest continuously heated and insulated pipeline, executed the world's largest Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) polymer flood project, and is currently implementing the world's largest Alkaline Surfactant Polymer (ASP) project. Cairn has a world-class resource base, with a current interest in 58 blocks in India that includes 41 blocks under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP). With the addition of these new blocks, Cairn's portfolio now adds up to 65,000 square kilometers which pave the way for the next wave of hydrocarbon explorations in the nation.
